Wrapping Up With Water Heater Blankets

When you are trying to cut down on the utility bills, the initial cost of insulation or replacement windows can seem overwhelming.  While there are tax credit in place to offset the cost, let’s face it, you still have to have the money in the first place to get the insulation bought and installed.  Many times there are great buys on insulation but then there is the cost of installation.  Some insulation products are easy to install and don’t cost a fortune.  Water Heater Blankets are fairly inexpensive and are easy to install.

A couple of hours of work are all it takes to wrap a water heater with the blanket.  The blanket itself is made of insulation that is enclosed in a type of plastic cover. The blankets can fit either as gas powered or and electric hot water heater.  The blankets come in different sizes and can fit any size of heater. The blanket is held in place by insulation tape. You can buy more tape if you need to but tape is normally included in the blanket kit.

Water heaters are insulated when they are built but extra insulation cut cut lost energy by up to 25 percent.  That doesn’t mean your utility bill is going to go down by that much, but it does mean if you have a family of 4 that take a bath or a shower every night, you will notice that the bill will drop.

So if you can start with with the little things when it comes to energy savings, the utility costs with go noticeably down.
