This is what it took to deal with Dog Separation Anxiety

Dog training is not a simple task, nor should it be approached as one. What you do with your dog, and how you do it, will affect him for life. However, there are ways to make it slightly easier and much more fun.

First you must build a proper foundation with your dog, built on trust and respect. You need to know where you are going, and you need to plan on how to get there.

You cannot just ‘wing it’ and hope that your dog turns out okay. You need to decide what methods you are going to use, and how you are going to employ them with your dog.

You also need to decide which behaviours you are going to teach, and in what order. Do you care if your dog can play dead? What about coming when called? It is important to know what your goal is for your dog. Positive reinforcement is one of the most common methods of dog training, and involves rewarding a dog for good behaviour.

With positive reinforcement, there is little room for error in that if you do accidentally reward a behaviour that you didn’t mean it, it is not the end of the world and can be fixed.

However using the corrections method, such as with prong colors, may be damaging to your dog if done wrong, which may in turn cause your dog to lose confidence in you and to halt further training.
